Decorative Collection

Available pieces from the studio

Each work in this collection reflects a dialogue between fire, sea, and earth — elements that define life on Vancouver Island’s rugged coast.

From flowing cobalt horizons to textured barnacle surfaces and grounded earthen forms, these vessels capture the slow conversation between creation and erosion.

Every piece is shaped, glazed, and fired by hand — one at a time — to preserve its individuality and sense of place.

Lava Series

Barnacle-textured surfaces with flowing glazes

The Lava series takes inspiration from the encrusted, textured surfaces found on Vancouver Island's tidal zones. Heavy glaze applications create cratered, barnacle-like textures and flowing movement. Carved surfaces add depth and shadow that shifts with the light—a dialogue between the raw coast and the transformative power of fire.

Lava Series — Vessel #1

Round, spherical form with heavy barnacle-textured glaze. The cratered surface mimics tidal erosion and encrusted shoreline rock.

9" tall × 8" wide.

Lava Series — Vessel #2

Textured vessel with flowing volcanic glaze over carved surface. Heavy application creates depth and movement reminiscent of molten rock.

10" tall × 9" wide.

Lava Series — Vessel #3

Classic vase form with barnacle-like texture and flowing glaze. The surface captures the memory of Vancouver Island's low-tide zones.

8" tall × 6" wide.

Hakeme Series

Traditional brushwork with matte and gloss glazes

Inspired by the Hakeme technique found in both Japanese and Korean pottery traditions, this series features rhythmic brushwork applied to leather-hard clay. White slip is brushed across textured surfaces, then layered with flowing celadon and cobalt glazes. Each piece captures the gesture of the brush — a moment frozen in clay.

Hakeme — Tall Vase #1

Elongated form featuring traditional white slip brushwork beneath flowing dark glaze. Bold, rhythmic strokes create movement and depth.

17" tall × 10" wide.

Hakeme — Vase #2

Classic vase proportions with Hakeme brushwork and layered celadon glaze. The gesture of the brush frozen in clay.

10" tall × 7" wide.

Hakeme — Bud Vase #4

Wide bowl with rhythmic white slip brushwork beneath flowing cobalt. The interior reveals layers of glaze depth.

Flow Series

Layered glazes and depth

Flow pieces investigate movement through overlapping glaze layers. Cobalt blues blend into soft whites, creating oceanic depth and horizon lines. Each vessel is a study in controlled accident — where planning meets the unpredictable nature of the kiln.

Flow Series — Vase #1

Layered cobalt and white glazes create oceanic depth. The flowing glazes blend like horizon lines where sea meets sky.

10" tall × 6" wide.

Flow Series — Vase #2

8" tall × 5" wide.

Flow Series — Vase #3

Rich blue with subtle white flow patterns. A study in controlled accident—where planning meets the unpredictable nature of the kiln.

Gaia Series

Thrown and coiled earthen forms

The Terra series celebrates clay's most ancient construction method—hand coiling. Built slowly, coil upon coil, these vessels reference the human body and earth's primal feminine energy. Organic curves and grounded earthen glazes create forms that feel both ancient and contemporary. Each piece is a meditation on the vessel as holder, mother, and sculptural presence.

Gaia Series — Vessel #1

Hand-coiled vessel with organic curves and grounded earthen glaze. Built slowly, coil by coil, referencing the feminine divine.

14" tall × 8" wide.

Gaia Series — Vessel #2

Sculptural form celebrating the vessel as both container and sculpture. Earthen glazes and soft curves honor clay's connection to the body and earth.

16" tall × 9" wide.

Gaia Series — Vessel #3

Ancient coil technique creates organic, sculptural presence. The form references the human body—curves, volume, and container as sacred feminine object.

18" tall × 10" wide.

Gaia Series — Vessel #4

Hand-built form with flowing curves and matte earthen glaze. Each coil visible beneath the surface, celebrating the slow, meditative process.

12" tall × 7" wide.

Gaia Series — Vessel #5

20" tall × 11" wide.
